Southern Belle Heat Spell
My car, a 2001 Chevrolete Impala, has heat spells. I found this out when I came down to Jacksonville, Florida. It's hot, obviously it's Florida, and the heat of the afternoon prevents ignition. I am not exactly sure how. My guess is that the heat trips a sensor that prevents electronic operation of something and that makes the security system prevent ignition. Maybe it's more direct, I don't know. When the heat of the day subsides, my car will start.
To combat this, I opened windows, not enough. I borrowed a sun shield, it might work. A solor powered ventilation system is on it's way. Hopefully, these simple measures will prevent me from visiting a dealership and make me overheat.
Update: It was a dying battery, which explains the heat based perfomance failures. It was a corroded fuse to the ignition power relay, replaced thus repaired. Disconnected the battery overnight, this might work.
Comments
omg... please tell me you got one of those solar powered fans that have recently been advertised on TV. I can't wait to hear how it works. The pure beat-down provided by the Florida sun should be an excellent testbed.
